Melbourne, Florida (PRWEB) January 15, 2014

Building off a successful “Super Adoption Event” in June, several animal welfare agencies have teamed up with Brevard County Animal Services and are coordinating efforts to hold their first Mega Adoption Event of the new year. The Brevard Community Mega Adoption Events are an integral part of a multi-faceted strategy to save the lives of 2000 dogs and cats in 2014 who are “at risk” for losing their lives in county-run shelters.

“These events, along with innovative adoption programs, like our Cat Adoption Center in the Melbourne Square Mall, allow people who would never set foot into a shelter, even a no-kill one like the SPCA, to save a life,” explains Patrick Fox, Executive Director of the SPCA of Brevard, “Creating a no-kill community requires teamwork and that is exactly what is starting to happen among the animal welfare agencies in Brevard.”

From January 25-26, Brevard Community Mega Adoptions, which consists of the SPCA of Brevard, Brevard County Animal Services, Brevard ASAP, Hope for Brevard, the Central Brevard Humane Society and Space Coast Feline Network, is turning the Azan Shrine Center in Melbourne into the Love Shack with the goal to find loving homes for more than 350 dogs and cats at the event.

“That’s right,” says Susan Naylor, SPCA Media Specialist, “the Love Shack is a little old place where you and a pet can find each other; and right in time for Valentine’s Day! During these two days of non-stop pet adoptions. The doors be open from 10am to 6pm and the adoption fee for all cats and dogs is just $ 25!”

All pets at the Love Shack Mega Adoption Event have already been spayed or neutered, are up-to-date on vaccinations and are ready to go home with their new families the very same day. Due to limited space, event organizers request that visitors do not bring current pets to the event without making prior arrangements.

The Azan Shrine Center is located at 1591 W. Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne. For more information visit http://www.spcamegaadoptions.org or contact Patrick Fox at 321-362-0590 or Susan Naylor at 321-501-7696.
