Elderly Daytona Beach woman brutally beaten, left for dead

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) – An elderly woman was beaten, robbed, and left for dead in a brutal attack that happened in Daytona Beach on Saturday.  The suspects are just 16 and 18 years old and face multiple charges, including home invasion and robbery, aggravated battery,  and grand theft motor vehicle.Markeise Favors, 18, made his first appearance before a Volusia County Judge on Monday. Investigators said he hid behind a house then had his 16-year-old girlfriend approach the elderly woman who was outside her home, to ask for directions and the use of her bathroom.According to police, while the 16-year-old girl was in the elderly woman’s bathroom, Favors sneaked inside the home and hit her over the head with a rock, knocking her out.  Police said the suspects robbed the woman and then stole her car.

On Sunday, the 16 year old was involved a hit-and-run wreck in the victim’s car, according to police.  That’s when investigators connected the two incidents.

“This is a serious crime, because the lady could have died, and all for a vehicle?  That’s just sad that we have people out here they prey on the elderly like that,” said Jimmie Flynt, with the Daytona Beach Police Department.

The victim was rushed to the hospital Sunday morning and remains at the hospital, recovering from her injuries.
