Man found floating in Cocoa Beach surf dies at hospital

COCOA BEACH — A Tennessee man who was found floating in the surf near Cocoa Beach died Saturday morning, officials said.
Cocoa Beach police responded to the beach near Young Avenue in reference to a report of an unconscious swimmer floating in the surf. The swimmer was identified as Michal Markwell, 51.
Police and Cocoa Beach Fire Rescue officials performed CPR on Markwell. He was transported to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he died.
The cause of death is under investigation, but officials said they didn’t detect any signs of foul play.
