Woman who drove van into ocean appears before judge

The pregnant mother who drove her mini-van into the ocean at Daytona Beach with her three children inside is expected to appear in court Monday.

Officials say this dependency hearing will help determine what will happen to 32-year-old Ebony Wilkerson’s kids in this situation.

Investigators say Wilkerson’s children told officials last week that their mother was taking them to the beach so they “could die”.

Wilkerson had an initial appearance in front of a judge on Saturday. 

Her bail was set at $1.2 million. Her public defender says he’s working to get it lowered.

Wilkerson who is pregnant with a fourth child is facing three counts of attempted first degree murder charge and three counts of child abuse.
