Officials said one ticket was bought in Maryland, while the other was bought at the Sunoco on South Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island as a quick pick ticket.

The winning numbers are: 11, 19, 24, 33 and 51 with a Mega Ball of 7.

Peter Scarborough buys his coffee and newspaper at the Sunoco, and he checked his ticket this morning, but was not the winner.

“If it had been me, I don’t know what I would have done,” he said.

Other regulars to the store are excited by the news.

“I hope it’s someone I know because it’s fun,” said Gracey Cooper. “There’s always another chance.”

“There’s, I’d say, a very good possibility I know this person and maybe can get a piece of the pie, if I put in a good word,” Scarborough said.

In a tweet, Maryland lottery officials say the winning ticket there was sold in Charles County, south of Washington.

The jackpot is the sixth-largest lottery prize in U.S. history, with a lump-sum option of $224 million.

Mega Millions is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
