Police: stranger chases teen girl from bus stop to home

Police arrested 29 year old Joseph David Thompson of Palm Bay for stalking a 15 year old girl from her bus stop to her home several blocks away.

The crime began at the teenager’s bus stop near Witchita and Wagonwheel in Palm Bay. The teenager’s mother and brother, who were not home at the time, both called 911 after the teenager called them while hiding in her mother’s bedroom.

When police arrived, they say they found Thompson and his green SUV parked in the teenager’s neighborhood. Thompson was arrested, and police say they found an unused condom and marijuana in his pockets.

Thompson appeared before a judge on Wednesday, who set his bond at $10,000 for a charged of stalking. Palm Bay police requested the judge allow them to outfit the suspect with a GPS ankle monitor so they can keep track of him if he bonds out of jail.
