Orlando Police: Man arrested for robbing local restaurant

The Orlando Police Department says a man robbed the Cafe De Columbia restaurant at gunpoint Thursday night.

Officials say the man went into the restaurant on South Semoran Boulevard wearing a black sweatshirt, white hat and implied he had a gun. 

Investigators say the man put a bag on the counter and pointed at his waistband implying he had a firearm to a store employee.

Officials say the employee felt her life was in danger and gave the suspect an undetermined amount of cash and coins from the register.

Officers say a witness told them he saw a man matching the suspect’s description drop a bag in the middle of South Semoran Boulevard, pick it up and then jump the fence into the Tuscany Bay apartments.

Detectives searched the apartment complex and found the suspect later identified as Isaiah Santiago.

Officers say the store employee positively identified Santiago as the person who had just robbed her store.

Officers then removed Santiago’s wallet and discovered a large amount of cash and found Santiago’s pockets were handfuls of coins.

Officials say based on Santiago’s description it is believed he is the suspect from multiple robberies in the area.

Investigators say during an interview at the police station the suspect made comments about putting Voodoo on them.

Santiago is charged with Robbery With Threat of a Weapon.
