Agents with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the GAMEOVER Task Force located and arrested an absconded sexual predator who fled the Tampa area Wednesday.
Mark Mazzo, 46, was arrested Friday in a Holly Hill hotel, and he is being held without bond awaiting extradition at the Volusia County Jail.
The investigation began when Tampa probation and parole officers told BCSO investigators that Mazzo had cut off his electronic monitoring device in Brevard, BSCO Maj. Tod Goodyear said.
BCSO agents trailed Mazzo through Brevard, Flagler and Volusia counties before locating and arresting him, Goodyear said.
Mazzo, was convicted in 2000 on charges of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious battery on a minor. He faces new charges of violation of probation and tampering with an electronic monitoring device.
Personnel with the Flagler and Volusia sheriff’s offices, U.S. Marshal Service, Daytona Beach Police Department and Holly Hill Police Department participated in the investigation.
