Deputies looking for missing elderly Volusia County man

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help to find an 86-year-old man who left on foot from a home in DeBary Thursday morning.

Officials say Daniel Vargas is new to the area and gets lost easily.

The Sheriff’s Office says Vargas had an argument with family members at a home on Bonita Road and walked away at about 11:00am.

Investigators say he was last seen wearing a brown sweater and dark dress pants and he was carrying a black portfolio with documents in it.

Deputies checked local businesses, hospitals, taxi services, public transportation and they activated the reverse 911 system but have been unsuccessful in locating him so far.

Vargas is 5”9″ tall and about 130 pounds. He has short gray hair and a mustache and speaks little English.

Anyone who finds Vargas is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 386-736-5999 or 911 if there is an emergency.
