Kate Upton visits Space Coast, defies gravity in SI photo shoot
This week, the 50th anniversary issue hit newstands with photos of Upton floating in zero gravity.
In partnership with Zero Gravity Corporation, the shoot took place March 18, 2013, at Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville.

Upton posed in a specially modified Boeing-727, known as G-FORCE ONE. Sports Illustrated photographers were on hand to catch the weightless modeling experience.
Zero-G is the first and only FAA-approved provider of commercial weightless airline flights to the public.
“The ZERO-G experience was really exhilarating for everyone involved,” said MJ Day, editor of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. “We have been almost everywhere in the past 50 years with SI Swimsuit, but we have never done anything like this.”
Upton has appeared on SI swimsuit covers in 2012 and 2013, but the zero gravity photo shoot was a first for the model, as well as Sports Illustrated.
